ROONEY WANTS DERBY JOB

Derby County player-coach Wayne Rooney has thrown himself into the frame for the vacant managerial post at Derby County after the sleeping English Championship giants dismissed their manager Philip Cocu. Dutch manager Cocu had to pay with his job after Derby County fell to the bottom of the English Championship table.
Rooney told reporters during his pre-match presser for the Bristol City game at the weekend. He has been placed on temporary charge of the team on the back of Philip Cocu being sacked. According to him, he has been clear that he sees himselfas a manager. Wayne Rooney further said that he has been impressed with the respective jobs that former teammates like Steven Gerrard (Rangers), Frank Lampard (Chelsea) and Scott Parker (Fulham).

Liverpool legend Gerrard pushed Celtic all the way towards to the title at the end of last season.Celtic won the Scottish Premier League title in the last campaign but they already trail Rangers by 11 points. Ex-Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard is on course to end the title drought for Rangers. For Lampard, his Chelsea team is a title contender going by all that has happened in the two-month old Premier League campaign this season.

Frank Lampard had led Chelsea to a fourth place finish and Champions League football despite the lack of signing due to an imposed FIFA ban for irregular transfers of teenage players. The Blues have backed Lampard in the transfer market with some exciting signings and it's not surprising that they are in the Premier League title picture after nine weeks. Chelsea are third on the league table and behind the duo of holders Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur who are at the summit. On his part, Scott Parker did well to lead Fulham to the Premier League.
Rooney began his interim reign as the Derby County manager with a 1-0 loss to hosts Bristol City at Ashton Gate. Second half substitute FamaraDiedhiou scored the lone goal during the game which further condemned the Rams to the bottom of the league. There’s hope that the Rams will survive relegation as they are only three points from the last spot for safety.
