ROONEY PROVIDES UPDATE ON LEADING SCORER

Rooney Reminisces His Days with Guardiola

Wayne Rooney is today the all-time top scorer of goals for United. He started as a wonder kid who debuted at 16 years of age with a top score at Toffees. Thus his career started at Everton. Here he was dubbed wonder kid and he started his career in Manchester United in 2004 with a price tag of €25.6 million. In the summer of 2017, he returned back to the club of his boyhood days.


In May this year, he reminisced to the press how Everton was able to get under Pep Guardiola’s skin at a time when Wayne was under Manchester City’s reign. ROONEY AND THE PFA AWARD TEN YEARS LATER

 

England star Wayne Rooney won his only PFA Players’ Player of the Year award in 2010. This was after an
impressive season with Manchester United whilst at his prime. The Red Devils ended that season behind
Chelsea, fighting till the end but losing by a point. They were gunning for a fourth straight title following
victories since 2007 when the Blues won it last.


Many expected United to retain the title but Chelsea did enough to secure it. Rooney was sidelined that
season due to groin injury ahead of the World Cup in South Africa, but his 34 goals was enough. For the
star, it was a sign of coming to age after consistent performance since winning the young player of the
year award earlier in his career.

ROONEY TO BEGIN ACTION IN JANUARY

Former Three Lions star Wayne Rooney would be eligible to play in January with Derby as player-coach. He is billed to have his Derby debut against Barnsley on January 2nd even though he has been with the crew in the dugout on matchdays.
