Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has said that he is targeting the record set by Sir Bobby Charlton at Manchester United many years ago.

Wayne Rooney has become one of the main players at Manchester United, and he has so far scored 28 goals in this season alone. He looks on course to beat the record of Dennis Viollet and George Best when it comes to the most number of goals scored for Manchester United.

Dennis Viollet and George Best are currently in the fourth place, while Sir Bobby Charlton leads the record. Wayne Rooney's 175 goals for Manchester United puts him just for behind Dennis Viollet and George Best.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is back among the goals after scoring against Wolverhampton Wanderers in an English Premier League match at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The talismanic United forward has not been among the goals since the middle of September, a period stretching 723 minutes and his two goals against Wolves means he has ended his goal scoring drought this season that saw him begin with a bang and scoring two hat-tricks in successive matches against Bolton Wanderers and Chelsea. The goals cap off a good weekend for Rooney who saw his ban in the Euro 2012 reduced to 2 matches from 3 matches after an appeal, which means that he will definitely go to the Euros with the England squad.
