FERDINAND BACKS GREENWOOD TO FOLLOW ROONEY'S FOOTSTEPS

Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood is without a doubt, one of the best young players in the world at the moment and has been making waves since he was handed his debut by current United manager Olé Gunnar Solskjaer a couple of months ago.

The England international youth star has become one of the most impressive youngsters in the world of football and he has continued to show that he deserves every single praise he gets by putting in encouraging performances for the Red Devils. In United's Europa League campaign last season, Greenwood was an instrumental player for the Red Devils, and he has continued this season from where he stopped in the last.

He has scored two goals in the opening two games of the new Premier League season after his strikes against Leeds United two Saturdays ago and then Southampton on Sunday. His two goals take him to 19 in the Premier League so far and currently makes him the third-highest scoring teenager in the Premier League, and United's former player Rio Ferdinand has now backed the young attacker to follow in the footsteps of one of the club's greatest-ever players; Wayne Rooney.

Ferdinand said that he has been watching Greenwood closely and has always been impressed whenever he watched him play, insisting that the young forward has every required attribute I make a huge impact for the Red Devils in his career. The former central defender then proceeded to say that Rooney eventually started as a young star at United and Greenwood can do the same.

Greenwood's strike against Southampton was not enough to help United avoid defeat as the game ended in. 1-1 draw but he will be looking to continue his fine form in their next match if he is given the nod to make an appearance.
