Mourinho calm over pursuit of Wayne Rooney

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho expressed his satisfaction after his side hammered a select Indonesia XI 8-1 with almost none of his first team players on show on Thursday.

Following the win, Chelsea will return to London for the remainder of their pre-season training with no new development on their pursuit of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney for whom the Blues have already had a bid rejected, believed to be around £ 20 million.

The 27 year old England international was present at the Carrington Training Complex on Friday as he trained on his own to get back to full fitness ahead of United’s final match of their pre-season tour against AIK in Stockholm, Sweden while his teammates toiled hard to secure a 2-2 draw against J-League side Cerezo Osaka in Japan.

But the Portuguese tactician remains extremely confident that he will indeed land the man who he has termed as the one man who will complete the Chelsea side ahead of the start of the new season. Speaking about Wayne Rooney at a press conference, the former Real Madrid boss stated that at this moment, there is no new development except what people already know – that they had made a bid which has been rejected.

He also insisted that he is not losing sleep over the club’s pursuit of the England international adding that he is calm because he is calm with the team he has at his disposal. Chelsea has already made three signings this transfer window but it is believed they will break the bank to bring Rooney to Stamford Bridge.

And although new United manager David Moyes has insisted Wayne Rooney will not go anywhere during the summer, it is believed that if United land their top transfer targets, the England man might as well be sold.
