DERBY CLOSE GAP ON SAFETY

Derby County have moved within four points of safety in the English Championship after the impressive 3-1 win over Hull City. Manager Wayne Rooney and his players welcomed newly promoted team Hull City to their home with the knowledge that a win would boost their chances of survival and they were able to get the victory.

The Rams were not really in danger of losing points against Hull City from the moment Craig Forsyth gave them lead in the 19th minute. The advantage was then doubled by leading goalscorer Tom Lawrence to ensure that the goals from him and Forsyth gave the Rams a 2-0 lead at the end of the first 45 minutes.

Derby County made sureof the three points at the start of the second half when Frank Ebosele scored the third goal with two minutes on the clock. A Craig Forsyth own goal would later reduce the Derby County advantage by one as the game ended with four goals.

With the home victory over Hull City, Wayne Rooney was able to stop a three-match winless run which yielded just a solitary point from the maximum nine points. Wayne Rooney and his players began the lean run on the back of their best spell of the season. They had a run of four wins and one draw from five games before the aforementioned winless run. The run began with the 2-1 loss at the home of Nottingham Forest before the 2-2 home draw with Birmingham City. The 2-0 loss at Huddersfield Town took the winless run to three matches.

Wayne Rooney and his players have given themselves a good chance of escaping relegation from the English Championship with their form over the last two months which reads: five wins, two draws and two losses. They are four points adrift of Reading who are in the final safe place in the Championship.

RANGNICK HAS A TOUGH JOB – ROONEY

Ralf Rangnick has a tough job on his hands to turn the fortunes of Manchester United around according to club legend Wayne Rooney. Derby County manager Wayne Rooney sat down with Sky Sports to talk about Rangnick who’s expected to be named the interim manager at Manchester United this week.

Wayne Rooney stated that the German has a big job to do at Manchester United after their poor start to the current Premier League season. The Ex-Manchester United striker went on to say that the club has a chance of winning at least one major trophy with Rangnick in charge. 63-year-old Rangnick is presently the head of Sports and Development at Russian Premier League giants Lokomotiv Moscow. Manchester United are expected to reach an agreement with Lokomotiv Moscow officials before they can make Rangnick their interim manager until next summer. It has been reported that the German will stay on as a consultant at Manchester United until 2023 if the club were to appoint a new permanent manager next summer.

Manchester United are preparing to make Rangnick their interim manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was dismissed from his role as the permanent Manchester United manager last weekend shortly after the hugely disappointing 4-1 league defeat at the hands of newcomers Watford. Solskjaer paid dearly with his job after a poor league run of four defeats in five games and five defeats in seven games.

The expectation is that Rangnick will be in the Manchester United dugout until the end of the season before a permanent managerial appointment is made with Paris Saint Germain (PSG) boss Mauricio Pochettino seen as the leading candidate to take the job. It was even suggested in the media that Pochettino could leave PSG for Manchester United in the middle of this season.

Derby County have not been far from controversies in the past year and the latest one is the announcement that the club is going into administration. FERDINAND BACKS GREENWOOD TO FOLLOW ROONEY’S FOOTSTEPS

Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood is without a doubt, one of the best young players in the world at the moment and has been making waves since he was handed his debut by current United manager Olé Gunnar Solskjaer a couple of months ago.

The England international youth star has become one of the most impressive youngsters in the world of football and he has continued to show that he deserves every single praise he gets by putting in encouraging performances for the Red Devils. In United’s Europa League campaign last season, Greenwood was an instrumental player for the Red Devils, and he has continued this season from where he stopped in the last.

He has scored two goals in the opening two games of the new Premier League season after his strikes against Leeds United two Saturdays ago and then Southampton on Sunday. His two goals take him to 19 in the Premier League so far and currently makes him the third-highest scoring teenager in the Premier League, and United’s former player Rio Ferdinand has now backed the young attacker to follow in the footsteps of one of the club’s greatest-ever players; Wayne Rooney.

Ferdinand said that he has been watching Greenwood closely and has always been impressed whenever he watched him play, insisting that the young forward has every required attribute I make a huge impact for the Red Devils in his career. The former central defender then proceeded to say that Rooney eventually started as a young star at United and Greenwood can do the same.

Greenwood’s strike against Southampton was not enough to help United avoid defeat as the game ended in. 1-1 draw but he will be looking to continue his fine form in their next match if he is given the nod to make an appearance.

ROONEY: GREENWOOD STILL HAS A HUGE ROLE TO PLAY

Following the signing of Jadon Sancho by Manchester United from German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund this summer, there have been questions raised about the future of forward Mason Greenwood at the club. Both United and Dortmund confirmed in their official statements via their respective social media handles that they had reached an agreement for the transfer of the England international attacker to Old Trafford this summer but while it has been a great piece of news, there could be a little problem as well.

With Sancho costing United £73 million, he is expected to walk straight into the starting XI of manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær as it would be unwise to sign a player for such a huge amount and place him on the bench. And that’s where the problem comes in for the other attackers at the club, including Greenwood. England youngster Greenwood has been a bright prospect for the Red Devils since making his first-team debut under Solksjær some months ago and he has continued to rise from strength to strength as well. However, his position in the team is under huge threat because of Sancho’s imminent arrival.

United now have a wealth of options in attack, which includes the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani, Daniel James, Juan Mata, Mason Greenwood, and of course, the incoming Jadon Sancho. However, it is expected that Solksjær sticks to a starting front-three selection from Rashford, Cavani, Sancho, and Martial, leaving Greenwood out of the mix.

But according to the club’s legend Wayne Rooney, Greenwood still has a huge impact to make at Old Trafford and he should brace himself for the coming season. Rooney said Sir Alex Ferguson had a lot of attackers during his time at the club and he knew how to mix them well, and the same could be repeated.

ROONEY VOWS TO REPAY DERBY FAITH

Derby County boss Wayne Rooney has vowed to repay the faith shown in him by the club after the Manchester United legend guided the team to safety on the final day of the English Championship season this term.
Wayne Rooney recently spoke to the club’s official TV about his future, football management and Derby County owner Mel Morris. The ex-Three Lions of England striker told Rams TV that his future lies with the club and that he’s ready to take Derby County to the next level. Wayne Rooney also thanked the owner Morris for the faith shown in him.

Rooney said that he always knew that he would go into football management after hanging up his boots. The former Manchester United striker was the mastermind as the Rams escaped relegation to English League One with a dramatic 3-3 draw at home to Sheffield Wednesday. The result sent Sheffield Wednesday down to League One.

Manchester United all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney joined Derby County at the start of last year in a player/coach capacity before he was made the interim manager towards the end oflast year on the back of the dismissal of Dutch coach Philip Cocu who led the Rams to the bottom of the English Championship table.

Rooney made a great start to life as the Derby County interim manager. He led the club out of the relegation zone and that prompted the owner to give him the managerial job on a full-time basis. The Englishman hung up his boots earlier in January to take the job permanently. After a great managerial start, Rooney and his Derby County players stuttered over the line at the end of the season thanks to the draw with the Owls on the final day.

ROONEY BACKED IN RELEGATION BATTLE

Derby County manager Wayne Rooney has been backed for the job amidst the poor run of form in the league. Rooney, 35, was given a vote of confidence by Rob Lee, a former Derby County player.

Wayne Rooney has been exposed to football management earlier than expected after he was made the Derby County manager in the place of the sacked Philip Cocu. Dutchman Cocu was sacked towards the end of last year after guiding the club to the bottom of the English Championship table. Rooney replaced Cocu on an interim basis before his appointment was made permanent mainly due to the good results posted during the time of his interim appointment.

Ex-Derby County midfielder Rob Lee backed Wayne Rooney as the Rams manager in an exclusive interview with Football League World.According to him, the fans should not judgeRooney until he has been backed in the transfer window.

Cocu was sacked and replaced with Wayne Rooney in early November. Since his appointment, Derby County have lost half of the 34 league games under him. The record under Rooney in the English Championship reads 10 wins, 7 draws and 17 defeats. Since his appointment, Rooney has been able to lift the Rams off the bottom of the table and out of the relegation zone.

Derby County have won just one from the last 13 games in the league and that poor form has sucked them into the deep end of the relegation battle once again. The Rams are one place above Rotherham United who occupy the third and final spot in the relegation zone. Derby County have four points more than Rotherham United having played two games more.

Rob Lee is certain that Wayne Rooney would prove himself as a good manager once he has been backed in the transfer market this summer. Lee played 50 times for the Rams between 2002 and 2003.
