Rooney Announced For England

Wayne Rooney was not surprisingly included in Roy Hodgson’s list of players that he will be taking with him to Brazil for the 2014 World Cup. The Manchester United player missed out from the last 3 matches of the Premier League as he picked up a groin injury and had to rest during the last phases of the season.

The former Everton performer has struggled trying to make good performances for England. Rooney sustained a metatarsal injury for the 2006 World Cup and he was rushed to recover and get fit which ultimately caused him to get injured once more for the 2010 World Cup as the Englishman was not even close on producing any kind of memorable performance for his nation.

This time around Rooney has revealed that he will not be rushed to get back in fitness.

"Previously I have always been going into the first game looking for fitness and it's difficult to get your breathing right and the rest of it," he told the Daily Mail.

"This time I honestly feel good. I have looked after myself as well as I can to be as fit as I can for this tournament. I will be ready. I'm looking forward to it. I really want to be 100% fit this time and, barring an injury in training before we go, I will be totally ready." Rooney said.

England was drawn into a substantially difficult group as they have to lock horns against Italy, Costa Rica and Uruguay but despite this, Rooney is excited about the upcoming event.

"The players we have in the squad really excite me and I'm sure they will excite the fans. Obviously the manager picks the squad but you can see that he has seen the potential in the young players, too. The last few games he has seen that and been excited and I'm sure that's in his thinking when he picks the teams." Rooney added on as he praised the talent of the England squad.
